Each day of the year features a primary event, accompanied by a video and article to commemorate the day. Our design approach was very clean and simple, leading with the video for entertainment value, followed by the editorial for those interested in learning more. The right column was utilized to enable quick browsing of additional events that occurred on the same day.
A simple click or tap on the date in the title bar revealed a calendar, allowing users to scroll to any day of the year. This feature created an increase in engagement as most people would go to significant dates such as birthdays and anniversaries to see what events occurred on those days.
The above mobile and tablet views show snippets of the articles, video, and the "Also On This Day" feature which allowed users to browse by category, such as American Revolution, Automotive, Civil War, etc.
